![]() I've also seen the recent threads here mentioning the visibility of added screensavers in the setup dialogue, and their suggestions, but nothing that I could find has helped. I've searched extensively for any possible solution to make this visible without success - and there is no reference to 'Fireflies' here. How to make this and/or any others appear so that they can be used ? It does not appear in (what I think is.) the Xscreensaver dialogue.ģ. Is it Xscreensaver or Mate-screensaver how may I be 100% certain that it is the Xscreensaver dialogue which is doing the actual work ?Ī screensaver called 'Fireflies' was suggested as a replacement for my old favourite & I found it & followed its installation instructions, BUT=> If you get 'connection refused' errors when running xscreensaver from gdm, then this probably means that you are having xauth (1) problems. ![]() ![]() You can configure the settings for this nobody-logged-in state (timeouts, DPMS, etc.) by editing the gdm/.xscreensaver file. Super users can kill the xfce4-screensaver process (with TTY or SSH session) to unlock session. In this situation, the xscreensaver process will be running as user gdm. I find that now I am uncertain as to what actually opens or is in control when trying to add another screensaver. Re: Solved xscreensaver-command -lock not functioning OK fixed it, just put the command in before the command to start openbox and that fixed it. Description of problem: In an Xfce session simultaneous use of xscreensaver and xfce4-screensaver can result in xfce4-screensaver lock screen not accepting password input. Now to my actual queries as they ultimately relate with the above: I have already added Xscreensaver and made sure that it is activating in the autostart programs dialogue. To start with - I am very much missing the ability to use a specific & very beautiful screensaver that I've used for many years called 'Particle Fire' now that I have become a user of U-M.
